A White Tea & Musk Inspired Aromatherapy Spray

I have an aromatherapy mist called White Tea & Musk spray, and I love the scent. It’s light, clean, and has a soft spa-like aroma that makes a room feel relaxing and fresh.

My issue is the spray uses fragrance oils alongside essential oils and I prefer using just essential oils. So, I started experimenting to see if I could create a similar blend without using fragrance oils.

Citrus Blossom & Soft Musk Aromatherapy Spray

This blend creates a light, clean, slightly citrusy scent with a soft warm base.

Base Ingredients

  • 4 oz distilled water
  • 1 tablespoon witch hazel or vodka (helps disperse oils)

Essential Oils

Instructions for the White Tea & Musk Spray

  1. Add the witch hazel or vodka to a 4 ounce glass spray bottle.
  2. Add the essential oils.
  3. Fill the rest with distilled water.
  4. Shake well before each use.

Lavender Citrus Woodland Mist Spray

If you prefer a blend that uses more common essential oils, this one has a fresh, calming aroma with a subtle warmth. Use the same base ingredients but switch up the essential oils.

Essential Oils

These recipes will fit best in a 4 to 5 ounce glass spray bottle. If using a 4 ounce bottle, slightly reduce the water to leave room for the other ingredients and to allow space for shaking.

How to Use Your White Tea & Musk Spray

Lightly mist:

  • Bedding or pillows
  • Curtains and upholstery
  • Closets or bathrooms
  • Around a room for a soft spa-like scent

What If You Don’t Want to Use Vodka?

Vodka is commonly used in room sprays because it helps disperse essential oils into the water. If you prefer not to use alcohol, there are a few alternatives you can try.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is the easiest substitute and can usually be used in the same amount as vodka.

Look for plain witch hazel without added alcohol if you want to avoid alcohol completely.

Vegetable Glycerin

Vegetable glycerin helps essential oils mix slightly better with water and adds a softer mist, but it can make sprays a little heavier.

Too much glycerin can make the spray feel sticky on fabrics, so a small amount works best.

Essential Oil Solubilizers

Products designed to blend essential oils with water (such as Polysorbate 20 - I most often have this in my stash for a face spray I make - I use either the Bramble Berry brand or Making Cosmetics brand) help the oils mix more evenly.

  • Follow the product directions, but typically
  • Follow the usage directions on the product you’re using, since different solubilizers may require different amounts.

This option helps prevent the oils from separating as quickly. For small sprays like these, only a small amount would be needed.

A White Tea & Musk Spray

With just a few ingredients and a blend of essential oils, you can create your own white tea & musk aromatherapy spray that brings a soft, spa-like atmosphere into your home.

Whether you prefer a blend with delicate floral notes or one that leans a little more toward fresh citrus and gentle woods, these sprays are an easy way to enjoy a refreshing scent without relying on fragrance oils.
