Essential Oil Safety - Patch Testing: When using a new essential oil or a fresh blend, it’s always a good idea to perform a simple patch test first to see how your skin reacts. Mix about 2 drops essential oil with about 1/2 teaspoon of a carrier oil, apply a small amount of the mixture to a discreet area of skin (like the inside of your forearm). Let it sit and observe the area for one to two hours. If your skin is sensitive to the oil, a reaction will often appear within the first five to ten minutes. If you notice redness, itching, or irritation, discontinue use or further dilute the essential oil before trying it again.
